Theft and Vandalism of Pontoon Boats at the Park
In June 2009 several pontoon boats were vandalized at our Access as thieves stole boat batteries and radios. Hamburg police investigated but were unsuccessful at identifying the culprits.
Last week, similar thefts occurred on Zukey Lake and Hamburg police caught three local teens.

Hamburg Police Arrest Three Juveniles For Boat Radio Thefts
8/29/09 – Three teens were arrested early Saturday morning by HamburgTownship Police as they attempted to steal items, primarily marine radios, from boats on the north side of Zukey Lake. Further investigation led to a nearby home, where officers recovered several other items also determined to have been stolen. Officials say the teens were likely responsible for a series of similar thefts over the past couple of weeks in and around Zukey Lake. Due to the number of items that were discovered, police say not all of the thefts were reported and are asking boat and car owners in that area to double-check their property and report anything missing to Officer Brian Medbury with the Hamburg Township Police Department at 810-231-1000, Extension 307.”
Boat owners who lost batteries or radios in the earlier thefts may want to contact the Hamburg police department.
